OSCE’s high-level Annual Security Review Conference

Rome [ENA] Conference (ASRC) will take place from 31 August to 1 September in Vienna, under the motto: “Back to basics: our commitments, our security, our OSCE.” The Conference, organized this year by the Swedish 2021 OSCE Chairpersonship, will bring together diplomats and high-level officials from OSCE participating States. It will provide a forum for a deep and wide-ranging discussion on current security threats and challenge

challenges for Europe and the role of the OSCE in addressing them. The Conference will discuss and review threats to the security of its 57 participating States. On 31 August, the opening session in the morning will feature keynote remarks by OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, Swedish Minister for Foreign Affairs, Ann Linde and OSCE Secretary General Helga Maria Schmid. The OSCE stands for the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe. With 57 States from Europe, Central Asia and North America, the OSCE is the world's largest regional security organization.

OSCE activities cover a wide range of security issues such as conflict prevention to fostering economic development, ensuring the sustainable use of natural resources & promoting the full respect of human rights and fundamental freedoms. Most of the OSCE’s staff and resources are deployed in the OSCE’s field operations in South-Eastern Europe, Eastern Europe, the South Caucasus and Central Asia. These operations have tailor-made mandates, which are agreed by consensus of the participating States. Field operations are only established with the agreement of the host country. In addition to their headquarters, some field operations also have field offices, regional centres, and/or training centres in their host countries.
