Rome [ENA] Emilia- Romagna is one of the 20 administrative regions of Italy, situated in the northeast section of the country, comprising the historical regions of Emilia and Romagna. Its capital is Bologna. It has an area of 22,446 km2 (8,666 sq mi), and about 4.4 million inhabitants. Emilia-Romagna is one of the wealthiest and most developed regions in Europe, with the third highest gross domestic product per capita in Italy.

A multiple museum to Rimini's favourite son Federico Fellini opened on 19th August in various venues in the Romagna resort that inspired many of the cinema legend's greatest works. Fellini, author of masterpieces such as The White Sheikh, I Vitelloni, La Strada, La Dolce Vita, 8 1/2 and Amarcord, was born in Rimini in January 1920. He died of a heart attack in Rome in 1993, sending the film world into mourning. Generations of directors have been influenced after him because of his bizarre plots and at times risqué humour. A new open-air arena has been created in the broad area around the 15th century Castel Sismondo, which has been turned green with the elimination of carparks and asphalt.

A space of creativity, included by the Ministry of Culture among the great national projects of cultural heritage, in the sign of Fellini's visionary nature, of cinema, of the relationship with the arts, in permanent dialogue between innovation and tradition. The Fellini Museum does not intend to interpret the cinema of the Rimini director as a work in itself completed, as a shrine or homage to memory, but to enhance the cultural heritage of one of the most illustrious directors in the history of World cinema, who was born in Rimini in 1920 , and brings together in a conceptual and spatial unicum several places of the city heart, giving life to a composite path of participatory narratives that make the visitor the protagonist

of an immersive experience, in a continuous 'dialogue' between internal and external spaces in which creativity and imagination can positively contaminate Rimini and its journey in the present and in the future, as a key to access the world where "everything is imagined". The Fellini Museum unfolds along three key points of the historic center of Rimini, connecting different realities for the transmission of knowledge and of the creative spark of the great Italian director. The three axes involved are: Castel Sismondo, the fifteenth-century Malatesta fortress to whose project Filippo Brunelleschi contributed; the Palazzo del Fulgor, an eighteenth-century building, where the Fulgor is located on the ground floor, the legendary cinema

immortalized in Amarcord and now rearranged with the sets designed by the three-time Oscar winner Dante Ferretti. Finally, to unite the two buildings, Piazza Malatesta, a large urban area, with green portions, arenas for shows, artistic installations, an immense veil of water to evoke the ancient moat of the castle and a large circular bench which, like in the final of 8½, wants to be a hymn to life, to solidarity, to the desire to be together. Piazza Malatesta, like a large square of dreams, embraces in a not only symbolic ring, the cultural center that has the Fellini Museum at its center, but which also includes the Galli Theater inaugurated by Giuseppe Verdi and restored in 2018 and the PART - Palazzi dell'Arte Rimini,

a contemporary art center in two fourteenth-century palaces, inaugurated in September 2020, to which in these weeks the Sculpture Garden will also be added, which fades into the museum's exteriors. The piazza also features gardens and a basin of vaporised water, and has a ring in the middle harking back to a Fellini circus. On the fringes of the vast piazza are the newly restored Galli theatre and the Fulgor cinema which Fellini celebrated in his tribute to the Rimini of his childhood and teens, 'Amarcord' (local dialect for 'I remember'). Town officials have said they hope the museum will do for Rimini what the Guggenheim has done for Bilbao.
